Temporary Respite Care for Kids

CARING FOR KIDS IN NEED

By becoming a temporary Respite Care Provider with LFCS, you can provide care for an infant or toddler (age 0-3), on a short-term basis (up to 30 days), while their birth parents receive services from LFCS. This will allow the family time to decide whether they will choose to parent their child or make an adoption plan, so they can make the best choice for their family’s future.

To participate, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Pass a background check
  • Have room for a child in your home and vehicle
  • Not require daycare while caring for a child
  • Participate in free training
  • Complete a home study

Once approved and trained, you will receive ongoing support from a dedicated LFCS case worker. As some families come to us for help in crisis, you may be asked to provide care on short notice. Your services will help children in our community begin life with safety and stability, and  provide comfort and relief to families in need!
