Faithful Promises – Fall 2020-3

We promise to help career dreams come true.

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

At the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, a woman eight months pregnant and homeless called LFCS looking for a place to live. She had recently been laid off, and she could no longer afford a home for her growing family. During the call, an LFCS counselor was able to provide her with a housing list, and they located an apartment that she could move into that weekend.

Over the next few months, she moved into two different apartments. Each provided a safer environment for her children. She also began her journey at a local trade school to become a dental assistant. To help with tuition, LFCS counselors referred her to a scholarship program that totaled $3,800. She was accepted into the program and began right away. She excelled at the school while caring for her children at home.

The woman is now set to graduate from the trade school program on December 11th. She has been admitted into a two-week internship opportunity that could land her a position making $17-$25 dollars an hour after completion. She continues to use LFCS as a resource to improve her parenting skills, and her children are happy and healthy.

One of her older children recently told the woman, “Mom, you are too old to go to school!” The woman replied, “You are never too old to be somebody.”
