Julia Pickup, MSW, LCSW joins Lutheran Family & Children’s Services as the Director of Behavioral Health & Prevention Services with more than 15 years of experience in the mental health field.  Julia studied Psychology at Knox College and obtained her MSW from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis.  Julia’s professional work has primarily focused on providing therapy to high-risk youth and their families, including children in foster care or who have been adopted, people with special developmental and intellectual needs, and youth who have experienced or are at risk of child abuse and neglect.  Julia developed a love for clinical supervision and program leadership, transitioning from therapist to supervisor, program manager, and director of programs.  Julia also enjoys teaching and training.  She taught “Theory and Practice with Families” at UMSL’s MSW program and regularly facilitates workshops on clinical topics and supervision skills at local non-profit organizations and Washington University’s Brown School Professional Development Program.

Julia shares two young sons and a giant lap dog with her husband, Chris.
