Hands on Banking
LFCS Community Services was recently awarded a grant known as Hands on Banking. The funding, provided by Wells Fargo and United Way of Greater St. Louis, supports a five-week financial education program for school-aged children. Aligned with national and state educational standards for economics, financial literacy, mathematics, and English language arts, the lessons guide participants through real-life scenarios, group discussions, and valuable activities. Topics covered include earning money, smart spending, saving, investing and building credit—real world skills for real life.
LFCS staff visited Townsend Elementary (Hazelwood School District) for their first lesson in Hands on Banking. Above are images of Latizia Williams, LFCS Program Coordinator, facilitating the curriculum to the 27 children enrolled in the program.
