Former hockey defenseman, Reed Low was an enforcer for the St. Louis Blues, a tough guy with a big heart. The former Blues player brought that same energy to the 43rd Annual Lutheran Family and Children’s Services (LFCS) Gala and Auction on Sept. 26 at the Four Seasons St. Louis.
As host and auctioneer for the first time, Reed brought that competitive spirit to the room, engaging approximately 350 supporters who came together to support children and families across Missouri. The result was one of LFCS’ most successful and liveliest auctions in recent memory, and we are grateful to Reed for bringing his A game and winning personality to the evening.
Following the silent auction and dinner, guests watched two powerful videos, including Reed’s recent visit to the Hilltop Child and Family Development Center and a Hilltop Program Documentary. The videos put children, families and staff front and center, giving guests a closer look at the people and programs their support makes possible. Many guests were moved to tears.
Before the live auction, LFCS honored the Brickler family with the 2026 Legacy Award. John and Marilyn Brickler started the family’s connection to LFCS, and generations followed with their time, leadership and generosity. Their son, Matt, chair of the LFCS Foundation Board, told the Ladue News:
“LFCS is an organization that is rooted in compassion, service and hope. They stand by children and families at moments when support, stability and encouragement matter most.”

The support shown at the auction will help LFCS provide critical services and resources to children and families across Missouri. And while Reed Low may have left his Blues gloves at home, he brought the same fighting spirit to the Four Seasons, this time fighting for something bigger: a brighter future for Missouri’s children and families.
“We want to thank everyone who turned out for our event,” said Jeff Cook, LFCS Chief Financial Officer “Your generosity was extraordinary. It was more than a successful evening. Our gala and auction served as a reminder of what we can achieve together to help children and families in Missouri.”
