Foster Care Services for Missouri Families
Lutheran Family and Children’s Services (LFCS) helps with critical foster care services. We provide case management in cooperation with Missouri’s Children’s Division for kids who are in state custody due to child abuse and/or neglect. These are children that, for a variety of reasons, cannot be cared for by their birth parents. LFCS staff steps in to fill a gap for these children. We identify the needs of the child and try to place them with family members. If that is not an option, then we will place them with a foster family. LFCS staff work with the court systems to ensure that the child is safe and in a stable environment. The goal is always to reunite children with their biological family. When that is not possible, then the court will start exploring adoption as an option.
Foster parents provide a safe and stable home while the birth parents work towards reuniting with their children. LFCS is a proud member of St. Louis Partners, which is a collaborative effort between LFCS, Good Shepherd, and Bringing Families Together. Through this partnership, we provide a variety of services for the youth in foster care, biological families and the foster families.
