STEP Up is a program offered in partnering schools throughout St. Louis City and County.  The program helps youth develop and improve important life-skills like leadership, character development and problem-solving.  Additionally, issues like bullying, substance abuse, violence and other risky behaviors are addressed.

The program offers four different curricula:

  • Botvin LifeSkills Training
  • Girls Circle
  • Boys Council
  • PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies)

Through STEP Up, children participating in the curricula have the opportunity to be referred for short-term individual coaching services, called Follow-Up. In Follow-Up students create personal goal plans and then track their progress during weekly sessions with help from Follow-Up Coaches. Follow-Up services are intended to further develop general social and self-management skills with children who would benefit more from one-on-one coaching to make positive, healthy changes in their knowledge, attitude and behavior.
