Galatians 5:22
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness”

This bible verse embodies the work that foster parents do 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. They are the silent partners, caregivers, cheerleaders and supporters of the children and families they serve. By opening their homes and hearts, they play a vital role in helping children and families in crisis heal.

Their commitment leaves an indelible mark on generations to come. Foster parents are helping to end cycles of neglect, abuse and/or drug addiction and are often helping a child be the first in his or her family to finish high school, go to college or realize their lifelong dreams. Children leave their home knowing there are many paths in life that lead to success, and that one day they may raise a family on their own.

Foster families not only provide temporary homes, safety, and nurturing to our children, but they also help birth families by ensuring that children can be safely reunited with them. They do a vital job when they teach children the skills they need to know to get along later in life. The treatment, love, understanding and guidance they provide for children in need of so much is invaluable.

Foster parents often don’t get enough thanks or recognition for the efforts but LFCS appreciates all that foster families do to provide a home for children in need. And although the children they serve don’t always tell you, their lives have been changed forever having known and been helped by their foster parents.

Please join us in thanking foster families for sharing their homes, their families, giving love, encouragement and hope to children and families in need. Foster families are the heroes among us.
