Act with Intentional Kindness

The phrase random acts of kindness has become a part of our vocabulary.  It brings to mind people being kind to strangers almost as if they were caught up in a moment of generosity.  Then there are others who seem to be more purposeful in their kindness making it part of their everyday life.

Becoming a person who regularly participates in acts of intentional kindness can benefit those around you, but it can contribute to your physical and mental health as well.

Intentional kindness can:

  • Decrease blood pressure
  • Reduce stress and stress hormones
  • Improve self esteem
  • Increase social interaction
  • Boost positive chemicals in the brain that improve mood and increase a sense of well being

Give the gift of intentional kindness to yourself and others this holiday season! Here are a few suggestions to begin:

  • Make a point to do one intentional act of kindness each day.
  • Give a compliment.
  • Let someone go ahead of you in line
  • Listen to someone without interruption
