Over 5,000 children experienced abuse or neglect in 2018; a statistic that crosses all socioeconomic and educational levels, religions, ethnic and cultural groups. When adverse childhood experiences such as abuse and neglect are not addressed, lifelong medical, mental and social suffering can occur. Through our behavioral health and family services, LFCS nurtures and supports children and families who are at risk. Our services offer real solutions that lead to safety, permanency and well-being for those we serve.
In 1998, LFCS opened an office in Springfield, Missouri to meet the social services needs of the community. LFCS services are open to everyone regardless of race, faith, national origin, gender, or age. Over 80% of the clients served are not of the Lutheran faith.
Programs unique to the Mid-Missouri region include:
Foster Parent Licensing: We work with foster families who are specifically trained to provide temporary care to children who have been abused or neglected and are in the state foster care system. Please click here to inquire about becoming a foster parent.
