LFCS continues to support the OASIS Intergenerational Tutoring Program in Lutheran grade schools in St. Louis and southern Missouri.
This program trains caring adult volunteers to work one-on-one with students, who have underdeveloped reading skills, about one hour a week during the school day. Tutoring typically runs from October until the end of school in May. Principals and teachers praise the efforts of our tutors, who become mentors and friends with their students.
Three training classes will be offered in January, 2017. January 10 & 11 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM each day located in Kirkwood; January 18 & 19 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day located in St. Charles; and January 23 & 24 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day located in Arnold.
