Season of Sharing
Let the "Season of Sharing Begin"Christmas is right around the corner. For many of us, that means it is time to start shopping. But for some, there is no money to shop for presents. Often times, there isn't any money for even the basic necessities.
At Lutheran Family and Children's Services, there is hope. The Season of Sharing program is designed to make the holidays a little brighter for families in crisis. Season of Sharing has been helping families for more than 30 years. This program is orchestrated by the amazing efforts of many LFCS staff and community members volunteering multiple hours to organize this joyous event.
Who are the families LFCS assist? The families on our Season of Sharing list are individuals and families who are currently receiving LFCS services, are struggling with day to day expenses and would not otherwise be celebrating the holiday.
How can you help? All children and adults have the same hopes and wishes when it comes to Christmas time. Become a Season of Sharing sponsor. With our sponsors help last year, LFCS was able to give more than 1,000 children and adults a holiday to remember. LFCS Season of Sharing sponsors include churches and ministry groups, area businesses, schools, scout groups, community groups, individuals and families who want to help other families. Even if you choose not to become a Season of Sharing sponsor, maybe you would consider buying a few items that will benefit one of our needy families.
What are other ways to help? Donations of cash or gift cards are also appreciated and will be distributed to families that do not have a sponsor. A donation of a single $25 WalMart gift card can help a mother buy diapers, toilet paper and cleaning supplies - items that she would not be able to receive from a food pantry or with government supported food programs.
Become a sponsor, information is available today. For more information about this program call 314-787-5100.
