Adoption Of An Older Child

Many children are born into families that are unable to provide a secure and stable home they need to grow and develop as healthy children. Missouri has more than 10,000 children in the foster care system. Of these, approximately 1,800 are waiting to be adopted into a forever family. Lutheran Foundation has challenged six faith-based child welfare agencies in the St. Louis area to address this issue through a program called, Fostering Faithful Families. LFCS is proud to be one of the six agencies selected and is seeking individuals who can be a liaison within their church. rnrnThere are numerous ways an individual can provide support to foster parents and the children they lovingly provide care for every day. If you can envision yourself in this unique helping role contact Debbie Schallom at 314-754-2761 or send us an e-mail.

In order to meet the needs of the children in the custody of the Children's Division, and their biological, foster and adoptive families, LFCS has joined with PARTNERS throughout the state to maximize resources. In response to the performance based contracts issued by the state of Missouri, PARTNER networks have evolved to formal relationships between agencies, with a common Vision and Mission for Missouri's children.

PARTNERS, a coalition of private agencies in partnership with the Missouri Children's Division, is dedicated to creating an effective system to serve children and families to increase opportunities, resources, and support for permanency. As leaders in the field of child welfare, we seek to advocate for and ensure the highest standards of care through quality service delivery systems that will provide permanency and positively improve the lives of children and families in Missouri.

Through contracts with PARTNERS agencies, LFCS is providing case management, recruitment, training and assessments for families. In addition to LFCS, PARTNERS agencies are: Alternative Opportunities, Inc. (A.O., Inc.), Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph, and Good Samaritan Boys Ranch in Springfield; Catholic Charities, Catholic Services for Children and Youth, Bringing Families Together, and Our Little Haven in St. Louis; and in Kansas City, (also known as Family Advocates, LLC) Catholic Charities, Crittenten and Downey Side. Got a question? Send us an e-mail and we will get back to you soon..
