Programs/Services

CHILD WELFARE: offers child focused, client-centered assistance to families.  Professional staff provide information, referral, education and support to pregnant women, and to women who are struggling with parenting.  These include:  WINGS (Women in Need Growing Stronger) - a counseling, case-management service to pregnant women and their families;  Adoption - through domestic, international, relative or independent adoption, LFCS helps support families as they explore various adoption options and issues when determining how to expand or build their family; and, Respite/Foster Care  - services to provide voluntary emergency and temporary care for children under the age of five.  LFCS is a member of the St. Louis PARTNERS for Children network, a group of agencies working in cooperation with MO Children’s Division to achieve safety, stability and permanency for Missouri’s children by providing support (case management, foster care and adoption).  Get Real, a free program that offers counseling, education, case management and support to pregnant teens and young adults during pregnancy and into the future. COUNSELING: provides outpatient therapy/counseling to couples, families and individuals of all ages. Therapists are master’s level mental health professionals who are licensed by the State of Missouri or being supervised toward that licensure.  They are experienced in helping clients with a wide variety of issues such as: depression, anxiety, family and couple conflicts, grief and loss, separation and divorce, problems facing children and teens such as challenges with school, family and others. LFCS Counseling Department is certified by the State of Missouri Department of Mental Health to provide mental health services.  Special programs in the Counseling Unit include MET, multimodal (involving families and schools) emotional treatment for children living in St. Charles County who are experiencing behavioral and emotional problems.  Group programs are also available.  Fees are based on ability to pay.

COMMUNITY SERVICES: provides support and assistance to the community’s most vulnerable (families and children) through the following: Disaster Response, offers direct support in communities affected by floods, tornadoes or other natural disasters  with the goal of assisting them to regain stability and return to their pre-disaster functioning.  Mentoring Program, provides youth development services to children between the ages of 6-17 promoting personal and social achievement through group and individual discussion, curriculum-based instruction and character building activities.  Abstinence Only Education, promotes abstinence from sexual activity for youth.  Approved by Missouri Department of Health, this age-appropriate curriculum is a five or ten week program with one or two hours sessions a week.  The goal is to empower participants to make good decisions about sexual activity through clear information and activities that support personal self-respect. Advocacy Program, serves as a voice for and support to individuals, children and families that are impacted by public legislation and policy decisions.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER: offers affordable, accessible, quality childcare and family education in the St. Charles community through the Elm Point Early Childhood Center.  Licensed by the Missouri Department of Health and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Elm Point offers child care, preschool and after school services to 148 children ages six weeks to twelve years of age.  Elm Point is located at 3601 Mueller Road, St. Charles, MO  63301 – phone number is (636) 916-4041.
